MRI Brachial Plexus

Clinical Information:

Technique:

Imaging of the [left|right|both] brachial plexus was performed according to brachial plexus protocol which includes multiplanar anatomic and 3-D NerveVIEW sequences.

Findings:

Comparison:

Spinal cord:

The cord has a normal volume and signal

Brachial plexus:

Roots: normal
Trunks: normal
Divisions: normal
Cords: normal
Branches: normal

Muscles:

The scalene muscles have a normal appearance. The visualised rotator cuff muscles and chest wall are normal.

Bones:

The vertebral bodies and discs are of normal height with no malalignment. No significant disc bulges are identified. The neural exit foramina are widely patent.

No cervical rib or other vertebral anomaly is identified.

Thoracic Outlet:

The scalene triangle is normal, as is the costoclavicular space and pectoralis minor. No fibrous band or mass lesion is identified.

Vascular structures:

No evidence of vascular compression or other vascular abnormality is seen.

Conclusion:

Normal MRI brachial plexus

CT Skull Base

CT PETROUS TEMPORAL BONES

Clinical Information:

Technique:

Fine slice non-contrast helical CT images were obtained through the skull base. Bone and soft tissue windows were reconstructed.

Comparison:

Findings:

Right Side:

No focal bony abnormality is identified in the skull base.
The external auditory canal, middle ear, vestibular-cochlear apparatus and internal acoustic canal have a normal appearance. The vestibular aqueduct is normal size.
The tympanic membrane and ossicles are normal. The epitympanic recess, scutum, mastoid antrum and mastoid air cells are normal.
The course of the facial nerve is normal.
The carotid canal and jugular foramen are unremarkable.

Left Side:

No focal bony abnormality is identified in the skull base.
The external auditory canal, middle ear, vestibular-cochlear apparatus and internal acoustic canal have a normal appearance. The vestibular aqueduct is normal size.
The tympanic membrane and ossicles are normal. The epitympanic recess, scutum, mastoid antrum and mastoid air cells are normal.
The course of the facial nerve is normal.
The carotid canal and jugular foramen are unremarkable.

Other:

The nasopharynx is normal. The fossae of Rosenmuller and the eustashian tubes are normal.
The visualised intracranial structures are normal, as is the craniocervical junction.
The proximal neck structures have a normal appearance. The parotid glands are normal within the field of view.

Conclusion:

Normal CT petrous temporal bones.

MRI Whole Spine – Trauma Normal

MRI Whole Spine - Trauma Normal

Clinical Information:

MVA.

Technique:

Sagittal T1, T2 and TIRM imaging was obtained through the entire spine, as well as axial T1 and T2 weighted imaging.

Findings:

The vertebral bodies and discs are of normal height with no malalignment. The marrow and disc signal is normal.

The craniocervical junction is normal.

The spinal canal is normal. The cord and conus are unremarkable, as is the cauda equina. The cord terminates at T12/L1.

The lateral recesses and neural exit foramina are widely patent. The facet joints have a normal appearance. No paravertebral abnormality is identified.

The ALL, PLL, ligamentum flavum, interspinous and posterior spinous ligaments appear intact.

Conclusion:

Normal MRI spine.

Neonatal Ultrasound Lumbosacral Spine – Normal

NEONATAL ULTRASOUND LUMBOSACRAL SPINE - Normal

Clinical information:

Findings:

The cord terminates at T12 with a normal appearing conus. The cauda equina and filum terminalis are normal and freely mobile. No evidence of tethering is seen.

The posterior bony structures are within normal limits with no evidence of dysraphism. No evidence of a cyst/mass, meningocele, lipoma or sinus tract is identified.

The sacral cartilage is within normal limits.

Conclusion:

Normal neonatal lumbosacral spine ultrasound.

CT Cervical Spine – normal

CT Cervical spine - Normal

Clinical Information:

Technique:

Fine slice non-contrast helical CT images were obtained from the skull base to the thoracic inlet. Bone and soft windows were reconstructed.

Comparison:

Findings:

No fractures or other bony abnormalities are identified in the cervical spine. The vertebral bodies and discs are of normal height with no malalignment. No disc bulges are identified.

The facet and uncovertebral joints have a normal appearance.

The craniocervical junction is unremarkable, with normal foramen magnum.

The spinal canal is widely patent with normal appearing cord. The neural exit foramina are normal.

No paravertebral abnomality is seen. The prevertebral space is normal. The neurovascular structures and muscles are normal. No lymphadenopathy is seen.

The lung apices are normal.

Conclusion:

Normal CT cervical spine.

MRI CN VII and VIII nerves – normal

MRI CN VII and VIII nerves - normal

Clinical Information:

MRI cerebellopontine angle; asymmetrical sensorineural hearing loss

Technique:

Multiplanar, multisequence MRI of the cerebellopontine angle was performed without and with IV contrast including high-resolution images through the course of both VII and VIII cranial nerves.

Comparison:

Findings:

There is no focal brain parenchymal signal abnormality. In particular, the midbrain and brainstem are normal.

The external acoustic canal, middle ear, vestibular-cochlear apparatus and internal acoustic canals have a normal appearance.

The facial and vestibulocochlear nerves have a normal appearance, with no focal lesion, signal abnormality or abnormal enhancement.

The geniculate ganglion, cochlear component and descending bony component of the facial nerve have a normal appearance bilaterally.

The trigeminal and abducens nerves have a normal appearance.

No high signal is seen in the mastoid air cells or middle ear to indicate fluid.

Conclusion:

Normal MRI of the brain and cerebellopontine angle. No cause for sensorineural hearing loss is identified.

MRI Brain – Paediatric

MRI BRAIN - PAEDIATRIC

Clinical Information:

Technique:

Axial T1, T2, IR and GRE imaging was acquired. T2 sagittal and T2, IR and T1 IR coronal imaging was also obtained. T1 3D imaging was also acquired.

Comparison:

Findings:

No intra or extra-axial mass lesion or collection is identified. The midline structures are normal with no midline shift.

The sulcal/gyral pattern is appropriate for age. There is normal grey/white matter differentiation and appropriate myelination. No abnormal inversion recovery or GRE signal is seen.

No evidence of a cleavage or migration abnormality is seen. No cortical dysplasia is seen. The mesial temporal regions are normal.

The ventricles and sulcal spaces are normal.

The orbits, paranasal sinuses and mastoid air cells are normal for age. No bony abnormality is seen.

The foramen magnum and craniocervical junction is normal.

Conclusion:

Normal MRI brain with no evidence of a migration or cleavage abnormality. No dysplasia is seen.

CT Head – Common minor abnormalities

CT HEAD - Minor small vessel ischaemic disease

Clinical Information:

Technique:

Fine slice non-contrast helical CT images were obtained from the skull base to the vertex. Brain and bone windows were reconstructed.

Comparison:

Findings:

No intra or extra-axial mass lesions or collections are identified. The ventricles and sulcal spaces are within normal limits and there is no midline shift. The midline structures are normal.

No loss of the grey-white matter junction is seen. Note is made of minor patchy reduced density in the corona radiata consistent with minor small vessel ischaemic disease.

The orbits have a normal appearance and the paranasal sinuses and mastoid air cells are clear.

No bony abnormality is seen.

Conclusion:

Minor small vessel ischaemic disease of the deep white matter is noted. Otherwise normal CT head.
